Meet the Board
We are an all-volunteer team. A passionate, multidisciplinary group of community stewards dedicated to preserving the Merc as a vibrant, inclusive hub for food, music, and connection in Jamestown.
Rainbow Shultz has been the chef/owner of The Jamestown Mercantile Cafe in downtown Jamestown for over 17 years. A former social worker, she believes in the power of food, music, and gathering to strengthen communities and make life worth living. She also owns/operates an imaginative catering company and writes about food for local magazines. She has two amazing children.

Messa is a community builder, creative strategist, and Salesforce professional with a deep commitment to mission-driven work. With a background spanning nonprofit consulting, technology, and storytelling, they bring a systems-minded approach to grassroots organizing—translating big vision into tangible impact. Outside of their work, Messa can often be found running sound at the Merc, playing music, cooking for friends, or heading out on a big adventure.
Mario Essa
Phil Taylor is the Cofounder and CEO of Mad Agriculture, and Cofounder of Mad Capital PBC and Mad Markets PBC—three organizations dedicated to reimagining humanity’s relationship to land, sea, and each other through regenerative agriculture. A global ecologist by training, Phil specializes in ecosystem ecology and has led work across North America, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. He has helped raise and deploy over $130 million toward regenerative agriculture initiatives. Beyond his professional work, he is a husband, father of four, surfer, adventurer, and musician in the band Hinterland.

Jamie has called Jamestown home for over 15 years and has spent the past decade curating live music at the Merc, helping shape it into a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Through her consulting work, she supports organizations and individuals with event production, systems-building, and operational strategy—bringing a thoughtful and intentional approach to how people work, collaborate, and gather.
